Overview
NAMECHECK50 (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the NAMECHECK50 business name availability search service at namecheck50.com (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have.
By creating an account or using our Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
We do not sell your personal information. We never have and we never will.
Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide Directly
- Email address — collected when you create an account via magic link or Google OAuth. This is the primary identifier for your account.
- Name — if provided through Google OAuth as part of your Google profile. We do not require a name to use the Service.
- Search queries — the business names you enter to search. These are stored to deliver your results and maintain your search history.
- Payment information — credit and debit card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe, Inc. We never see, store, or handle your raw card numbers. We retain only the Stripe customer ID, transaction amounts, and purchase history associated with your account.
B. Information Collected Automatically
- Log data — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps of requests. Retained for up to 90 days for security and troubleshooting purposes.
- Session data — authentication session tokens stored in your browser. These expire automatically and are deleted when you sign out.
- Usage data — number of searches performed, credits consumed, features accessed, and general interaction patterns. Used to improve the Service and detect abuse.
- Device information — screen resolution and device type (mobile vs. desktop), collected in aggregate for analytics.
C. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, or financial account numbers.
- We do not collect precise geolocation data.
- We do not collect biometric data.
- We do not create profiles of individuals other than our account holders.
- We do not track your activity across third-party websites.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Service delivery: Authenticating your account, running your searches, delivering results, and maintaining your search history.
- Transactional communications: Sending magic link sign-in emails, search result notification emails, and purchase receipts. These are service communications, not marketing, and cannot be opted out of while your account is active.
- Payment processing: Charging your payment method for credit purchases, applying purchased credits to your account, and maintaining purchase records.
- Security and fraud prevention: Detecting and preventing unauthorized access, abuse of the Service, and fraudulent transactions.
- Service improvement: Analyzing usage patterns in aggregate (not individually) to improve search accuracy, speed, and user experience.
- Legal compliance: Responding to lawful requests from law enforcement, complying with applicable law, and protecting our legal rights.
- Marketing communications (opt-in only): If you explicitly opt in, we may send product updates and feature announcements. You may unsubscribe at any time via the link in any marketing email.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy governing its handling of your data:
| Service | Purpose | Data Shared |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe, Inc. | Payment processing | Email address, payment card details, billing address (if provided) |
| Google LLC | OAuth sign-in (optional) | Google profile email and name if you choose Google sign-in |
| Resend | Transactional email delivery | Email address, email content (magic links, results notifications) |
| State registry data provider | Business registry data retrieval | Your search query (the business name you type) |
Stripe's privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. If you have questions about any of our data providers, please contact us at privacy@namecheck50.com.
Data Retention
- Account data (email address, authentication records): Retained for the life of your account. Deleted within 30 days of a verified account deletion request.
- Search history and results: Retained for the life of your account. Deleted with your account upon a deletion request.
- Payment records: Retained for 7 years from the date of the transaction, as required by U.S. tax law and financial regulations, even after account deletion. Credit card details are never stored by us — only by Stripe.
- Log data: Retained for up to 90 days, then deleted or anonymized.
- Session tokens: Expire automatically after 30 days of inactivity or immediately upon sign-out.

Regardless of where you live, you have the following rights with respect to your personal information:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any CCPA rights.
To submit a CCPA request, email privacy@namecheck50.com with the subject line “CCPA Rights Request.” We will respond within 45 days. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, subject to identity verification.
Categories of personal information collected in the past 12 months: Identifiers (email, IP address), commercial information (purchase history, credit balance), internet activity (log data, usage data), and professional information (search queries related to your business). We do not collect biometrics, geolocation, or sensitive personal information.
Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at privacy@namecheck50.com.
Data Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:
- HTTPS (TLS 1.2+) encryption for all data in transit
- Encrypted data storage for authentication credentials
- PCI DSS-compliant payment processing via Stripe (we never handle raw card data)

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that materially affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email (to the address on your account) and/or by posting a prominent notice on the Service at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
Non-material changes (such as formatting, typo corrections, or clarifications that do not affect your rights) may be made without notice. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
